Our classes are designed to be flexible and personalized to your individual needs and interests with a strong focus on speaking.

Who:

Individuals aged 14+ at any level of English proficiency, from complete beginners (A1) to advanced (C1)

What:

You have two flexible approaches to choose from.

Structured Class

  • If you prefer a more guided approach, structured lessons focus on speaking while also including another skill, like grammar, vocabulary, or writing.
  • The teacher will design each lesson based on your needs and interests.
  • You’ll learn key concepts and practice using them in real-life conversations, helping you improve all around while keeping speaking a priority.
  • During the lesson, the teacher will share their screen with your personalized lesson, noting alternative expressions, idioms, and natural phrases, and providing corrections to help with improvement.
  • These classes are suitable for anyone just starting to learn English or for those who already know English but need to build vocabulary and grammar to express ideas more effectively, including advanced learners.

Example of a Structured Class

These are two screenshots of a lesson with a B1-level student from Mexico who likes structured lessons, typically about daily life and work-place English.
I designed a lesson plan about jobs, allowing him to learn new verbs while also putting them to use through different questions and activities. The red pen marks and extra text are words and corrections we discussed.

Conversation Class

  • Think of a conversation class like chatting while having coffee with friends! No preparation is needed.
  • Engage in natural, spontaneous discussions on topics that interest you, like movies, music, travel, sports, and more.
  • During the conversation, the teacher will share their screen on your personal Google Doc to give corrections and show alternative ways of expressing ideas.
  • These classes are better suited for students who already have a foundation in English.

Example of a Conversation Class

This is screenshot from the Google doc of a B1-level student from Brazil who chose to have a free-flowing class. We started off by talking about what was going on in the student’s life, leading us to chat about a range of topics. I wrote down corrections and alternative ways to say different sentences as the student spoke.

FAQ

Choosing the right class depends on your learning goals and preferences.

Often, students start with a structured lesson, which provides a clear topic and focus. As the lesson progresses, the conversation naturally evolves, becoming more free-flowing and covering a wider range of topics.

If you’re unsure, we recommend starting with structured lessons. Having a clear topic can be a good starting point and helps guide the conversation effectively.

The classes are the same price and include homework for extra practice if requested.

We offer classes for specialized topics such as test preparation and job interview preparation. Since these require additional preparation, they are classified as specialty topics. Please refer to the Specialty Classes page for more details.

Conversation Classes: For free-flowing classes, the teacher will create a personalized Google Doc for you, where notes, alternative expressions, idioms, and corrections will be recorded during your conversation.

Structured Classes: In structured classes, you will have access to the lessons with notes and corrections. This allows you to review what was covered and track your progress.

Additional Materials: If requested, extra materials can be provided for homework. These will be stored in your own personalized Google folder for easy access and organization.

We aim to be very flexible and understanding with rescheduling, which sets us apart from other online language learning websites.

More than 24 Hours Before the Class Starts:

Yes, no problem! You may cancel or reschedule a class with at least 24 hours’ notice. 🙂

Less Than 24 Hours Before the Class Starts:

Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the class starts will not be eligible for a refund. However, if you need to reschedule within the 24-hour window, please inform us as soon as possible. We understand that unforeseen circumstances can happen, so we will make every effort to accommodate your request for rescheduling.

However, please note that frequent last-minute cancellations (more than twice a month) will not be accepted for rescheduling as it prevents us from offering that spot to another student.

No-Show Policy:

  • If a student does not attend a class without prior notification, the class is considered a no-show, and no refund or rescheduling options will be provided.
  • If the student informs us after the class has started that they will not attend, it is also considered a no-show. The credits will be transferred to the teacher.
  • The teacher will wait 10 minutes for the student to join the Zoom call. If the student has not joined after 10 minutes, the class will be considered a no-show. The credits will be transferred to the teacher.

Teacher Rescheduling:

In the rare event that a teacher needs to reschedule, the student will be notified as soon as possible. If needed, a substitute teacher may replace the original teacher to ensure the class proceeds as scheduled.
